Update
v0.1 (294) available to testers
The following changes are available to all testers, run the auto-updater now to get the latest version:
  • NEW: Added a bunch of default formations. Those are it for now, we'll do a proper review of them before launch.
  • NEW: Job security, which is displayed on the "Board" page.
  • UPDATE: New version numbers and format. This doesn't matter other for reporting bugs.
  • UPDATE: Club profiles now have a load more data (squad, table, competitions, country, manager, finances etc).
  • Minor improvements and bug fixes
NOTE: Players are still facing the wrong direction sometimes in the match engine, as per 0.1.2 (read that for details). I'm not focused on this right now, but it's something I'll fix eventually.

The following changes are available to all testers, run the auto-updater now to get the latest version:
  • UPDATE: Individual instructions moved to team selection section of tactics page.
  • UPDATE: Completely replaced and restyled dropdowns throughout, watch out for any layout issues.
  • Minor improvements and bug fixes
NOTE: Players are still facing the wrong direction sometimes in the match engine, as per 0.1.2 (read that for details). I'm not focused on this right now, but it's something I'll fix eventually.

Update
v0.1.12 available to testers
The following changes are available to all testers, run the auto-updater now to get the latest version:
  • NEW: Formation preview on tactics page.
  • UPDATE: Design of club profile pages expanded to show full squad.
  • UPDATE: Replaced the position labels with stacked icons showing where players can play. This fixes loads of the layout issues and is easier to understand at a glance.
  • FIX: Tactics page now loads at a sensdible speed. Everything works the same, it was just fetching far more data than it needed before.
  • Minor improvements and bug fixes
NOTE: Players are still facing the wrong direction sometimes in the match engine, as per 0.1.2 (read that for details). I'm not focused on this right now, but it's something I'll fix eventually.

The following changes are available to all testers, run the auto-updater now to get the latest version:
  • NEW: Select your team from the tactics page (you can still pick from squad view as well).
  • NEW: Team profile pages for clubs other than your own.
  • UPDATE: New icons all over the place, let me know if any look broken.
  • FIX: Inactive pages (such as training) no longer crash things when opened. Sorry about that.
  • Minor improvements and bug fixes

The following changes are available to all testers, run the auto-updater now to get the latest version:
  • FIX: League table sorting fallbacks added for when points, goal difference and goals scored are equal.
  • NEW: Completely replaced fixture generation, now much better balanced.
  • NEW: Completely replaced the "new career" screen with one that actually works.
  • UPDATE: Squad view can now be sorted by any (sensible) column.
  • Minor improvements and bug fixes

v0.1.9 available to testers
The following changes are available to all testers, run the auto-updater now to get the latest version:
  • FIX: Game save dates show the last-played date instead of the game-started date.
  • UPDATE: Added all third party license info to the acknowledgements page. Support those open source projects if you can, they make so much of what you do and what you play possible.
  • NEW: Saves are now constant. It shouldn't be possible to lose progress if anything crashes, everything saves as it happens.
  • NEW: Settings page allows you to set time format, date format and currency preferences.
  • NEW: The load game screen now lets you quickly continue your previous save, and makes loading an old save much easier.

  • FIX: A number of display issues in the match engine were resolved, including goalkeepers going for a wander for no reason in a couple of specidfic circumstances.
  • NEW: The load game screen nowlots you quickly continue your previous save, and makes loading another old save much easier.
  • NEW: Sounds starting to appear, beginning with chiptune Nessun Dorma on the loading screen.

  • UPDATE: It's a big one. Match engine processing time for an active league reduced by 84%. No reduction in the complexity at all, just optimisations to the order things were done and how they were stored.

Update
v0.1.6 available to testers
Only a small update to the game this week, most of the time was spent on complience stuff and a payements API that I was required to do to release the game and take orders. All a bit tedious. But the following changes are available to all testers, run the auto-updater now to get the latest version:
  • UPDATE: Match engine processing speed was increased significnatly, especially for matches that don't require full 2D replays later
  • UPDATE: The continue game screen was re-written to better show real time events throughout the game world
  • A few minor improvements and bug fixes

The following changes are available to all testers, run the auto-updater now to get the latest version:
  • NEW: Weather. Currently by country rather than region, but that will change. It has an impact on the match engine, so look at the balance of that as part of your testing.
  • FIX: Replaced the fixture list logic, scheduling of home and away games should now be better balanced

Update
v0.1.4 available to testers
Big update this time, so it took longer. 2 new screens that are both central to the gameplay, so give them a lot of attention.

The following changes are available to all testers, run the auto-updater now to get the latest version:
  • NEW: Desk/homepage, including inbox, upcoming fixtures etc. Limited messages for now
  • NEW: Modal window when clicking continue. Shows results of matches being played, as well as other stuff happening in the game
  • NEW: Loading screen/animation when loading a save to cover up the mess as the interface is put together
  • UPDATE: The bottom calendar now advances correctly with each advancing day and includes dynamic weather updates
  • FIX: Selected nav item is highlighted correctly again now, sorry about that
  • Loads of minor improvements and bug fixes

  • NEW: Player profile pages are now available beyond just skeleton info. All profiles currently use the same player image, but this will change in a future update
  • UPDATE: Match engine improvements, mostly focussed on goalkeeper positioning
  • FIX: Back/forward navigation now works as expected
  • Loads of minor improvements and bug fixes

The following changes are available to all testers, run the auto-updater now to get the latest version:
  • NEW: Fixture list for your club covering all competitions
  • NEW: Finances page, with detailed breakdown of revenue and expenditure
  • UPDATE: Lots of changes in the match engine. I've removed a few formations for now because they weren't behaving sensibly, they'll be back in a future alpha release, but no promises when
  • Loads of minor improvements and bug fixes
NOTE: Players are facing the wrong direction sometimes in the match engine. They've also been known to spin in circles like a ballerina when standing still. It's a display issue, they're facing the right way in the code but there is a bug somewhere in the match view. It only effects the visual, not the logic. I'll fix it at some point, but it isn't a priority this week.

Pre v0.1.0 updates archived
All updates prior to version 0.1.0 won't make sense to anyone, and so are archived. Notes for v 0.1.0
  • Focus is on the match engine, and making it more fun and realistic
  • Lots of info hasn't been ported to the new design, so you'll find a lot of screens say "coming soon". The logic is still there, it's just not been displayed yet. New screens will be added weekly
